Appleton, WI -- November 28, 2006 -- mPower Innovations (link: http://www.mpower-tech.com/), the developer of mPower Integrator™, announces that the city of New Ulm Minnesota's Public Utilities is using Autodesk MapGuide®, mPower Integrator and Utility Science Corporation (USC) USMap™ (link: http://utilitysciences.com) to build their own GIS applications.

"Once it goes in the ground, we take care of it," states John Bendix, CAD technician for the city. "We even help out some of our neighboring towns with natural gas and other utilities."

The obvious challenge for the city was coming up with data and applications that would meet the needs of their many utilities, from gas to steam. A wide range of end-users and the need for field crews to access data could have led to each department doing their own development. John Bendix states, "We had reached a point where we really needed some help, but high consulting costs made it seem out of our reach. Luckily, a couple of phone calls to some of my peers led us to find and use a combination of products, enabling us to handle it all in-house."

The combination of Autodesk Map® with USMap is used to easily build rules based, object oriented GIS for each of the departments in Public Utilities. This is critical to maintaining their data standards and enforcing design rules.

MapGuide with mPower Integrator fully leverages the web side of their GIS. "We now have the ability to build our own sites, queries, reports and more for every department," said John Bendix. "The key benefit being every user has an interface they can use, and that makes sense for them."
